Al Quds Al 'Arabi newspaper reports that masked thugs attacked a cultural association in Gaza that specializes in the preservation of Palestinian traditional heritage. They smashed doors, destroyed all musical instruments, and tore up a book on Palestininan traditions.
"من جهة اخري قالت مؤسسة فلسطينية تعني بشؤون التراث والفن إن مسلحين مجهولين اقتحموا مقرها، شمال قطاع غزة الجمعة ودمروا كافة الأدوات الموسيقية التي كانت داخله. وأكدت الجمعية الثقافية لحماية التراث الفلسطيني أن مجموعة من الملثمين اقتحمت مقرها في بيت لاهيا شمال القطاع بعدما أقدموا علي كسر البوابة الرئيسية للجمعية وأبواب المكاتب، وحطموا كافة الأدوات الموسيقية فيها مثل العود، وآلة الإيقاع، وغيرها من الأدوات الموسيقية البسيطة.
وذكرت أن المسلحين أقدموا علي تمزيق وإتلاف كتاب تراثي صادر عن جمعية إنعاش الأسرة في رام الله

This is from "Abi Fawka al shajara," Abdel Halim Hafez's last film. It was a smash hit when it came out.
I still don't know what the title means.
No matter how many instruments they smash, no way debke can be taken out of the Palestinian soul..

I guess at the time of the song I was being conceived, but anyhow, as I understand it, the title means that the lover has a heart that is no preoccupied (khaliyya al-alb) unlike Romeo/abdelHalim whose heart of love, the burden that tasks his energies. This is why he says, lou fi albek addi albi 7ob, konna....
If your heart had in it as much love as mine, we would have embraced...

No, no clue about that. Adel Imam makes fun of that in Madrasat El-Mushghbeen, but thanks for drawing my attention to this, I never thought about it. I will try to find out soem day.
In fact, something similar happened recently: I never knew what Chebb Khaled song DIDI DIDI meant until I saw him in Star Academy recently and he said it meant "take love, take it" (originally "eddi ezzenie, eddih eddih"--I was fulfilled!)
